When we first moved to this street 19 years ago last week, we had a couple of lovely neighbors who lived across the street. Their names were Phil and Nell. Phil had a green thumb. He could grow anything! Sadly, a year or two after we moved in, Phil was diagnosed with cancer (I've forgotten where but it metastasized to the brain very quickly)and passed away shortly thereafter. Nell was unable to manage living in their house alone so she sold it and moved to a villa condo only a couple of miles from here. She gave us five or six of their hibiscus bushes. It has been over 15 years. I have a habit of naming roses and my hibiscuses. This is a bloom on the plant I named for "Phil." ;-)
