The Weather Geeks Were Right

It IS colder.  It IS windier.

Where's the lamb-like weather we're supposed to be having?

I took some pictures earlier this month on another windy and COOL day.  It was a day when friends from Iowa, Maine and Massachusetts visited.  The day I found my awesome yarn bowl, which, by the way, is still completely and absolutely AWESOME. ;-)

You can see the palm fronds standing straight out in the "breeze".  Today's wind is like that one -- just from a different direction. The worst thing about wind at the beach?  The sand.  It is like standing in the vicinity of a sand blaster.

So I won't be going out there today.  Not good for my skin -- or that of my car.

Staying in -- and staying busy.

Hunting for warm temperatures

I have felt cold all day long and decided to go look at some of my Maui shots to get into a "summer" frame of mind.  This is a rare shot off the shore of the village of Kenae on the Road to Hana -- no waves.  This is just a few steps from where my "perfect palm" was located.

It is supposed to get cooler every day this week.

I turned the heat pump on to "heat."

Now I'll work on the new afghan I am crocheting.

It is long enough now that it covers my legs while I am working on it.  I may finally warm up.

I know. I know.

Over 20 years in Florida has made me a candy ass when it comes to cold weather.  But then, I don't own any real winter clothes anymore.

And have no plans to buy any.

My favorite FB post of the day?

Self - explanatory....

Eddy's Back

"Eddy" the Egret
Eddy probably has a lot of different names.  Each given to him by the people he visits.  Eddy likes our place because of all the little lizards that live around our bushes.

He likes our neighbors because they give him hot dogs.  Not a good thing.

Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park

Some friends were visiting the area from out of state last week and spent a few hours at Homosassa.  It reminded me of some photos I took several years ago up there.  And I took a walk on a virtual wild side this afternoon while taking a break while working on a task requiring a lot of painstaking detail.

I loved the flag in the background.

I'll save my hippo, alligator, and manatee photos for another day -- and the boat ride to the entrance of the wildlife park..  If you have never been to Homosassa, take the time to visit.  It is well worth the trip and small entrance fee.

The Perfect Palm

One of my favorite shots along the Road to Hana on Maui.  I found it in the little village of Kenae.  When I went back a few years later it wasn't there.  The sea had reclaimed it's land.  I was really glad I had gotten this picture when I did on our 25th anniversary trip in 2000.

I printed this out to frame it.
