Pineapple Plant at 16 Months |
I had to "Google" pineapple plants to see what I should be looking for at this stage of development. This thing is HUGE. Apparently, the new pineapple will emerge from the middle of this thing. I check every day for some evidence of emerging fruit. I may need to consult my pineapple growing expert and friend, Neila.
I haven't figured out just what prompts the fruit to form. I'd imagine that since your plant is so healthy, it shouldn't be long now.
ReplyDeleteI saw a comment on a pineapple blog yesterday re "forcing" a pineapple to fruit by slicing "up an apple(red apples), then place the slices near the center where the fruit will bloom.the apples give off a gas when deteriorating, that forces it to bloom and produce fruit." And the same blog said the first thing I will see is a red and yellow flower that will eventually look like a pineapple. I'll wait til the weather is a little warmer and if it hasn't done anything, I'll try the apple.
ReplyDeleteMaybe I'll plant one considering the really good luck I have had with peppers.
