Beau

Butch and I lost our little buddy today.  He hadn't been himself for some time now and old age was creating big problems with his immune system.  Today he was diagnosed with acute renal failure and we made the decision to let him cross over the Rainbow Bridge.  We are both devastated but know it was the kindest decision we could make for him.

  1. Many hugs coming your way......I know you feel a hole in your heart missing Beau. He will be waiting and be his happy, healthy self when you see him again. Lots of prayers coming your way.

  2. I am overwhelmed by the numbers of kind comments on my Facebook page. Sybil, thank you for your comments. Our neighbors are all sad, too. As I have written many times, Beau felt the neighborhood was his little kingdom. He loved only two pups in the neighborhood -- both solid white, curly haired bichon frise breed. Probably a hold over from his first months in his foster home after he was rescued from the kill shelter. His bestest buddy, Cody, died a couple of years ago. We weren't sure Beau would ever get over his grief. Then he formed an affection for Stella, a bichon puppy he had had no time for before Cody passed. Most of the time, he loved the humans along our block more than he did the canines. It has been hard for all of us to witness his decline.

  3. As soon as I saw his photo on FB I knew. I'm so sorry. He loved you so much. You gave him a great life. Each time we lose a furbaby, a piece of our heart goes with them. One day our hearts will be made whole again when we meet at the Rainbow Bridge

    1. Thank you, Becky. I have a headache from all the tears today. I'll take a sleep aid before I go to bed. I have all his things laundered and ready to donate to his vet who works with Humane Society and helps outfit adoptable pups with beds, toys, etc. I am keeping his two favorite toys -- the alpaca he arrived with and the first toy we bought for him -- a puppy. Both are sheepskin. He was so careful of them and would nuzzle and bite them very softly as though he wanted to be sure not to hurt them. He was such a gentle pup.
